Pat
Taranto has been painting from the age of three. A professional artist who has been collecting and painting military figures
for the last 30 years.
He
has an extensive reference collection and paints all periods.
He favors Napoleonic figures.
Pat pays serious attention to detail, color and crisp lines.
He
was influenced by other painters whom he met at shows and shops years ago
like the late Kurt Stackhouse, who was a great figure painter
and Ron Tunnison whom he met in the Ad business who creates one-of-a-kind
figures.
And last to mention his friend from childhood and art school,
Joe Miceli who has painted 25 mm figures and dioramas by the hundreds!
It
was Joe who got Pat into painting figures in 1970,
when he gave him a figure to paint for the first time.
After that, he was "hooked".
Many
of Pats' figures have been bought here in the
One collector owns 1000 of Pat's figures and dioramas.
Pat
never enters competitions,
he feels that painting figures should be enjoyed, and taken to the point where
you want them.
No
matter how many times you pick up one of Pats' figures, you will find a new
detail in it.
Pat uses oil-based paints on his figures and also acrylics.
In addition to the detail in the figures from kits, he adds detail where there
wasn't any.
Many of the figures that you see on his website are no longer produced.
He has worked on 54mm, 90mm and up.
He
welcomes comments from you,
as well as inquiries about future paintings.
This
site is dedicated to his wife Carla, who has had the patience to put up with
all the late nights of painting at the kitchen table before he opened his art
studio at home.
